A painting of a reclining female nude, resting by a pond. She is lying on her left side supporting herself on her elbow, with her knees slightly bend. Her body is facing the viewer but she is looking towards a rectangle on the left upper corner of the canvas. In this rectangle a blue sky is framed by a willow and other trees/foliage. In front of her is the water of a calm pond. These three elements are joined by an abstract green colorfield.
My first inspiration for this painting was a holiday photograph/memory of the Fauler See in Berlin’s Tiergarten. I always like to paint/draw/take pictures of water. And than I read the the novel “Eden” by Jim Crace, which I really enjoyed. I can not explain my exact creative process that’s not linear at all, it just happens, but somehow these two experiences merged into this picture of a strawberry blond woman in a pensive/dreamy mood next to water and in front of a piece of paradise.
